Mental disorders programs

 

The programs provide specific and up-to-date information for family members to deepen their knowledge of mental health and to be aware of the impacts of mental illness. Being aware of the impacts helps to reduce the consequences.

These programs are designed to promote acceptance of the disease, to learn new coping strategies as well as to refine new relational skills by gaining concrete tools.

The programs are composed of the right balance between theory, sharing between participants, reflection exercises and practical activities.

BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER

At the end of this program the caregiver will be able to:

  • Understand the dynamics: relational, suicidal and self-harm
  • Understand the importance of a framework in the relationship
  • Use the 7 keys of adapted support

Duration : 12 weeks

BIPOLAR DISORDER

At the end of this program the caregiver will be able to:

  • Understand the different phases of the disorder
  • Learn about related disorders and treatments
  • Use adapted strategies to the different phases

Duration : 8 weeks

SCHIZOPHRENIA

At the end of this program the caregiver will be able to:

  • Understand the positive and negative schizophrenia symptoms as well as treatments
  • Become aware of the challenges of adaptation of caregiver as well as the person with schizophrenia
  • Use adapted strategies to optimize family and social functioning

Duration : 8 weeks

ANXIETY DISORDERS

At the end of this program the caregiver will be able to:

  • Know the basics of anxiety
  • Differentiate different anxiety disorders
  • Use tips and advices to live with an anxious person

Duration : 4 weeks

DEPRESSION

At the end of this program the caregiver will be able to:

  • Know the basics of mood
  • Know the different types of depression
  • Understand the particular role of caregiver of a person with depression

Duration : 4 weeks

PSYCHOSIS

At the end of this program the caregiver will be able to:

  • Recognize psychotic symptoms
  • Differentiate the different types of psychosis
  • Know the appropriate intervention paths

Well-being Workshops

COMMUNICATION

At the end of this workshop the caregiver will be able to:

  • Understand what communicational dynamics is
  • Know the elements that make up a message
  • Use appropriate communication strategies

Duration : 2 weeks

TAKING CARE OF A CHILD LIVING WITH A PARENT WITH MENTAL DISORDER

At the end of this workshop the participant will be able to:

  • Know the specific consequences of a loved one’s mental illness in children
  • Recognize the different possible reactions of the child
  • Put in place protective factors
  • Talk about mental illness to the child

Duration : 2 weeks

DEFINE ITS RELATED LIMITS

At the end of this workshop, the family member will be able to:

  • Understand the usefulness of limits in relation to yourself and others
  • Distinguish between the different relational dynamic
  • Respect yourself by establishing limits defined by your emotions and needs

Duration: 3 weeks

MAKE PROGRESS IN LETTING GO

At the end of this workshop the participant will be able to:

  • Situate itself within the letting go process
  • Have a different look on a situation
  • Become aware of actions needed to move forward along the journey

EXPERIENCE EMOTIONS

At the end of this workshop the participant will be able to:

  • Distinguish and understand emotions
  • Be aware of its reactions
  • Prevent compassion fatigue
